Commercialization of MOFs via mechanical preparation and solvent-free cleaning! Kargen is leading the green materials revolution

2025-08-20

Recently, Guangdong Advanced Carbon Materials Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as “Kargen”) has successfully achieved the commercial-scale production of Mof Materials using a “mechanical synthesis + solvent-free washing” technique. This technological breakthrough marks a critical step forward in the field of MOF synthesis. As a new generation of porous materials, MOFs hold tremendous potential in sectors such as new energy, environmental protection, and energy storage. Kargen’s latest innovation provides strong momentum for the high-quality development of these industries.

Technological Breakthrough: Mechanical Method Reshapes Traditional MOF Synthesis
Conventional MOF production has long relied on high temperatures, high pressures, and large volumes of organic solvents—bringing with it challenges such as high energy consumption, significant pollution, and stubbornly high costs. Kargen has adopted a mechanical synthesis technique that harnesses physical mechanical force to drive reactions, completely eliminating the need for solvents—even in the cleaning process. This innovation not only significantly reduces carbon emissions and environmental impact, but also boosts production efficiency. At the same time, it slashes energy consumption and material costs, placing Mof Manufacturing firmly on a green, sustainable industrial track. In representative products such as CALF-20 and MIL-101, this technology has successfully broken through the production bottlenecks of solvent-based methods. The resulting products deliver stable performance and outstanding specifications, fully meeting the demands of downstream applications.

Application Prospects: Empowering Multiple Industries
In the realm of new energy, they can be used as coating materials for lithium battery separators, effectively enhancing thermal stability and energy density. In environmental remediation, MOFs offer significantly higher efficiency in gas separation and VOC adsorption compared to traditional materials. In the hydrogen and natural gas sectors, they enable separation processes with higher selectivity and lower energy consumption. At present, the company has signed cooperation agreements with several leading domestic and international enterprises in the new energy and environmental sectors. The first batch of products is set to be deployed in power batteries and gas separation applications.

Corporate Progress: Accelerating Industrial Deployment
Kargen is rapidly scaling up its production capacity. In 2024, the company achieved hundred-ton-level output, and its thousand-ton-level production line is set to come online in 2025, with a product portfolio spanning over 40 types of MOFs. At the same time, the company continues to strengthen its technological reserves, having filed and secured nearly 40 core patents to date. It has also been approved as a Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base in Guangdong Province and established a collaborative network with over a hundred universities and research institutions at home and abroad. Kargen’s  progress has also attracted strong attention from the capital market. The company has completed a funding round exceeding 100 million RMB, laying a solid foundation for achieving ultra-low-cost, ten-thousand-ton-scale mass production within the next three years.

The implementation of this process not only redefines the green manufacturing pathway for MOF materials, but also marks a bold and significant stride toward greater self-reliance in China’s key advanced materials sector. As cost advantages continue to expand and application scenarios grow, MOFs are poised to become the technological core of emerging industrial chains.

Kargen will continue to champion “green technology,” driving progress from process innovation to industrial empowerment.
